To be eligible for admission in Bachelor of Optometry, a candidate should have passed two- years Pre-University examination/ Pre Degree examination/ two years after ten years of schooling or its equivalent as recognized by the Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal courses of study. Candidate needs to secure 40% or above marks in the qualifying examination to be eligible for admission. For SC/ST/OBC candidates minimum marks required in the qualifying exam is 35% marks.
Optometrist test for refractive errors, prescribe and dispense optical corrections in the forms of spectacle, contact lens and low vision aids. They also help the ophthalmologist in the diagnosis and management of disorders of binocular vision.
