The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) is a 4 ½ Year Degree course, a full-time program (i.e., 4 years with 6 months of mandatory Internship), offered by the Department of Occupational Therapy, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and is affiliated with Yenepoya Medical Hospital, which is a multi-specialty Hospital that provides varied clinical exposure to the students. The students from Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) are constantly exposed to ethical and professional standards in all areas of practice.
This program was started in 2020 and is now accredited by the All-India Occupational Therapy Association (AIOTA) which is associated with the World Federation of Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapy is a licensed healthcare profession and is one of the leading programs in India and worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria:
- PUC / HSc Science Stream
- Kerala State Board - Boys - Physics, Chemistry & Biology - 65%
- Kerala State Board - Girls - Physics, Chemistry & Biology - 60%
- Other State Boards / CBSE / ICSE - Physics, Chemistry & Biology - 55% for Boys & Girls
Scope:
After successful completion of this course, the candidate has job opportunities as a Clinical Occupational Therapist, Teaching faculty, researcher in Government & NGOs, self- employed, consultant/advisor in industrial, Schools & educational institutions in India & abroad.
As this field is very diverse; career opportunities are endless. Occupational therapists can be found working in special and integrated schools, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, old age homes, private homes, various rehabilitation centers with paediatric, orthopaedic, neurological and psychiatric specialties, also in work rehabilitation, & driving centers for People with special needs, Industrial Medical Facilities, De-addiction centers, Geriatric centers, , NGO, central prisons and can even do Private Practice.
