Cardiorespire - The Pulse of Breath World Heart & Lung Day 2025

The Units of Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technology, and Perfusion Technology, Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences (YSAHS) successfully organized Cardiorespire - The Pulse of Breath from 25th to 29th September 2025, in observance of World Heart Day and World Lung Day. The event aimed to promote awareness of cardiopulmonary health and to highlight the interdependence of the heart and lungs in sustaining life.

Highlights of the Event Series

25th September 2025 - Guest Lecture
A thought-provoking guest lecture on "Cardiopulmonary Interdependence: How Heart and Lung Dysfunction Influence Each Other" was delivered by Dr. Jostol Pinto, Associate Professor & Interventional Cardiologist, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College. The session provided deep insights into the intricate connection between the heart and lungs, with active student and faculty participation.

26th September 2025 - Inauguration & Screening Camp
The day began with the formal inauguration of Cardiorespire - The Pulse of Breath at the EMD Auditorium, graced by faculty members, dignitaries, and student representatives. The inauguration marked the official commencement of the multi-day observance.

Following the ceremony, a full-day screening camp was conducted. A total of 75 members (Housekeeping staff, MNOs & FNOs) were screened for vital signs, ECG, pulmonary function tests (PFT), and sleep disorders.

Special acknowledgment is extended to CIPLA Company for their support in providing portable spirometry and assistance during the camp. We are also deeply grateful to Mr. Muhammed Sabith, Deputy Operations Officer (DHO), and his team, for ensuring smooth flow of the screening process and making excellent arrangements for participants.

27th September 2025 - Competitions
Students across campuses actively participated in creative and intellectual competitions:

 Poster Making at Kinya Campus - Theme : Cardiopulmonary symphony
 Quiz Competition at Mudipu Campus
 Reels & Short Movie Contest (online submissions), with themes "Every Second Counts - CPR as a lifesaving bridge" and "One Life, Two Guardians - Heart and Lungs as partners in sustaining life."

29th September 2025 - Valedictory & Cultural Programs
The celebrations concluded at the Yendurance Zone with the valedictory ceremony and cultural performances. Winners of the competitions were honored with gifts, recognizing their creativity, knowledge, and dedication. The event brought together faculty, students, and participants in a spirited atmosphere, celebrating talent, wellness, and community awareness.

Conclusion
Cardiorespire - The Pulse of Breath was a resounding success, combining academics, service, creativity, and cultural engagement to highlight the importance of heart and lung health. The initiative not only enriched knowledge but also fostered awareness, teamwork, and community well- being.
